What they did wrong in Suicide Squad

A lot of people were anticipating the movie Suicide Squad, but what went wrong with Harley Quinn?

Let's start out with her outfit. Harley had a very similar look to a comic version of her drawn by Amanda Conner. Except, the outfit did not have the colors red and blue, they were red and black instead. Her jacket was very different from the one in Suicide Squad. Instead of being divided in the middle the jacket was completely black in the back area and had little tidbits of red on the sleeve.

Next up was her personality. Harley's personality was executed well by the actress Margot Robbie. The only problem was Harley wasn't as independent as she was portrayed in previous comics. In the movie she depended on Joker tremendously. She appeared weak mentally and unstable.

Finally, Harley did not have her original accent like she did in The Batman animated series. Arleen Sorkin was the original voice for Harley Quinn and she had a strong Brooklyn accent, where the movie Suicide Squad lacked this quality for Harley's character. Fans were disappointed because her voice or dialect was a prominent reason she was adored.

If the directors of Suicide Squad had paid attention to the details of Harley's character more the movie may have received better ratings than it did. In my opinion the original version of Harley Quinn should have been more reflected in her character in Suicide Squad. Hopefully her numerous fans of old would continue to follow her character as well as new fanatics.
